Here is what it looks like before post processing. I use a technique called ETTR (Expose To The Right), in which you overexpose the photo, and then adjust the exposure after capturing the image. The backlighting on the mountain is actually the moonrise behind the mountain. I also did a keystone correction for the perspective, because this was shot with a very wide angle lens (and then cropped).

Thought for the day: it is winter on the East Coast, and I must not have the mental fortitude of my friends who are doing Functional Threshold Pace rides on stationary trainers. Personally, I like a break from intense cardio during the winter, and I just hate exercising indoors!
